"A satisfied customer is a team achievement."
Name: Aisa
Position: Sales Support
Years with the company: 5 years
Location: Dordrecht and Antwerp
What I really appreciate about working at Standic is the family-like atmosphere among colleagues. Together, we create positive experiences, even in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment. We always focus on what is possible and make the best out of every situation.
A satisfied customer is never the result of one person’s effort; it’s something we achieve together. By working as one team and combining everyone’s expertise, we are not only able to welcome customers, but also to build lasting relationships.
What truly sets us apart is our open and honest communication. If something doesn’t go as planned, our customers are the first to know. We inform them right away and work together to find the best solution. That’s how we grow, both as a company and as professionals.
At Standic, we believe in possibilities; and that also counts for when it comes to personal growth. I started as a Management Assistant, moved into Customer Service, and now work as a Sales Support.
"Working at Standic has remained a very positive experience for me, even after 16 years."
Name: Peter
Position: Truck Coordinator
Years with the company: 16 years
Location: Dordrecht
I started as an operator in truck loading and progressed through the two-shift and full-continuous shift systems to my current role as Truck Coordinator. At the age of 50, I applied for this position because I wanted to stop working night shifts.
In my current role, I carry a lot of responsibility, something that suits me well. I am responsible for fair task distribution and team motivation, and I ensure that all activities are carried out in line with procedures and strict safety standards.
Collaboration with other departments can sometimes be challenging, but that’s exactly what keeps the job interesting. We solve problems together, and that brings a lot of satisfaction.
What I truly appreciate about Standic is that you’re genuinely given the opportunity to develop and grow. In previous roles at large multinationals, I didn’t experience that to the same extent. The grass isn’t greener on the other side.
That’s also something I would like to share with new colleagues during their onboarding tour: take responsibility, work together, and keep learning. That’s what makes working at Standic so meaningful to me.
"For me, the "Q" in SHEQ (Quality) is particularly important. I hold quality in the highest regard."
Name: Jeffrey
Position: SHEQ Officer
Years with the company: 5 years
Location: Dordrecht
What I enjoy most about working at Standic is the open culture, the short lines of communication, and the informal working atmosphere. You’re truly offered every opportunity to grow and develop.
The most rewarding thing about my job is working with people. Within the SHEQ department, we’re a small, close-knit team, yet we play a vital role in the bigger picture. The collaboration with other departments runs smoothly and supports the high standards of quality we uphold. For me, the “Q” in SHEQ—Quality—is particularly important. I hold quality in the highest regard.
The core value that resonates with me most is ‘sincere’. Integrity is extremely important to me. When you’re sincere in your work, you naturally align with the other two core values: ‘together’ and ‘responsible’. When we act honestly and sincerely, we can always find a solution together. This mindset also shapes how we communicate with regulators and subcontractors. A great example is a recent situation where a subcontractor spoke openly about a problem during an investigation into an incident. Thanks to his honesty, the matter was resolved quickly. Standic complimented his openness and took measures to improve the situation.
To new colleagues, I would say: you will be joining a close knit team and you will have every opportunity to grow and develop.
"The ‘family bond’ means supporting each other, regardless of your role"
Name: Hans
Position: Shift Supervisor
Years with the company: 4 years
Location: Antwerp
“When I went for my job interview at Standic, we talked about the family atmosphere within the company—a place where people work with trust, mutual belief, and opportunities.” This immediately gave me a good feeling, something I had never experienced in a work environment before. ‘We are one family,’ was said, and to this day, I can only confirm that statement.
I started as an Operator, and during this time, I closely witnessed the start-up of a growing company. Personally, I found this extremely fascinating, and it helped me elevate myself to a higher level. I want to mention this because Standic truly placed a certain trust in me, genuinely believing in my abilities and offering support from the highest levels of the company.
The ‘family bond’ means supporting each other, regardless of your role. Thanks to that, I have been a Shift Supervisor for about three years now, at the young age of 29. In this role, I can, in turn, provide faith and trust to the team so they can experience the same sense of belonging and develop themselves.
We often talk with the people involved about how we achieved this together and how we continue to grow as a company and as individuals every day. In short, by working hard and being in the right work atmosphere, you can achieve a lot.”
"If you take responsibility, stay positive, and go the extra mile, every day becomes more enjoyable"
Name: Lizzy
Position: Customs Declarant
Years with the company: 6 years
Location: Dordrecht
What I appreciate about Standic is that it feels like a family. We do everything together. The sense of community within the company is remarkable, you could say that this is typical of our corporate culture. I can walk into anyone’s office for a chat, I don’t feel any barriers, and that is important to me. This behavior reflects our core values: Sincere, Together, and Responsible. I fully embrace these principles.
Of course, it starts with yourself. If you take responsibility, stay positive, and go that extra mile, every day becomes more enjoyable. Discuss matters, be friendly, and commit yourself to the company. Look ahead and think in terms of the bigger picture. Ultimately, this benefits all of us.
"As colleagues, we support each other, making both ourselves and the company stronger."
Name: Yairo
Position: Operator Plus
Years with the company: 16 years
Location: Dordrecht
“At Standic, you come into contact with different cultures, something I find very special and enjoyable. Everyone is warmly welcomed, which creates an open and pleasant working environment. What stands out to me the most, is that I work with many different parties, both internally and externally. On a daily basis I interact with ship captains, shipping agencies, inspectors, and contractors. Additionally, I work closely with various internal departments such as Customer Service, SHEQ (Safety), and Customs.
The core value that resonates with me the most is ‘Sincere.’ Sincerity is an essential part of your work and the way you interact with others. It helps you build strong work relations. A great example of this is an incident in which the responsible team openly reported the issue. Because of their honesty, immediate action was taken to prevent further damage.
To a new colleague, I would say: Keep up the good spirit. Be customer-friendly and responsible. That means staying focused and always considering your own safety as well as the safety of others. If you don’t fully understand something or are unsure how to proceed, don’t hesitate to ask questions. As colleagues, we support each other, making both ourselves and the company stronger.”
"Look at the job with the long term in mind. Together we build the future, and you can shape your own role."
Name: Nancy
Position: Customer Service Representative
Years with the company: 2 years
Location: Antwerp
I have been working at Standic Antwerpen since early 2023. Prior to that, I worked for 39 years at a retail company that went bankrupt. My stepson already worked at Standic for years and he connected me with the director. Given the opportunity I had at my age, my motivation is such that I always go to work with pleasure. With a lot of support and patience, I was trained to reach my current role as a dispatch employee at a new, high-tech chemical terminal. It’s an exciting job with many social interactions and a lot of variety, working closely with a dedicated Customer Service team.
During my first meeting with new colleagues, I give them the advice to look at the job with the long term in mind. Together we build the future, and you can shape your own role. I hope to work here for many more years until I reach retirement age, and then I plan to regularly come by to say hello to my Standic family.
"We're always early for a coffee together."
Name: Fred
Position: Maintenance Technician
Years with the company: 4 years
Location: Dordrecht
I have been working for Standic for a long time, initially as a temporary worker, and later I was given the opportunity to join as a permanent employee. This decision was made quickly, as it’s a great opportunity to work for this family business. The fact that Standic is a family business was further emphasized when I was temporarily unable to work after surgery. The regular contact I had during that time showed that I was valued and that colleagues were genuinely interested in how I was doing.
My team works in an organized and disciplined way, with work always being a priority. But there is also room for humor and personal conversations. We’re always early for a coffee together. Standic has a great, collegial atmosphere. The best part of my job is the variety: one day you’re working outside, welding or repairing a pump, and the next day you’re helping set up an event. I’m not afraid to speak up if things could be done differently or better, and it’s always received well. In the end, you’re responsible for yourself, and that responsibility is in my DNA—I’m always ready to help everyone. To new colleagues, I’d say: Welcome to Standic, we’ll make it a success together.
